Michael Turner is a Senior Advisor focused on leading Crestview Strategy’s U.S. operations.
With over two decades of expertise in high-visibility government and public relations issues, geopolitical advice and risk management, and strategic and crisis communications, Michael’s addition to the team brings unparalleled skills to enhance Crestview Strategy’s client offerings. Michael has extensive experience in navigating the complex intersection of governments, Capitol Hill, business, civil society, think tanks, and the media.
During his tenure in government, Michael served around the globe. Most recently, he was head of communications and spokesperson at the U.S. Embassy in China, leading the Department of State’s largest overseas communications operation, where he managed a diverse array of front-page, multidimensional issues. In Washington, Michael worked in the intelligence community and served as a senior policy advisor in Congress, where he drafted legislation subsequently signed by the President and managed and expanded a bipartisan caucus to the U.S. Senate. Michael maintains an extensive international and domestic network, including at the federal, state, and local levels – helping enterprises solve problems.
Michael is a former U.S. naval officer, having served in Afghanistan shortly after 9/11. He is a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, an alumnus of Harvard Business School, earned a law degree from the University of Baltimore, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from The George Washington University. Michael is the author of two children’s books, Baseball is Back and Hockey is Hers, to encourage greater girls’ participation in sports and strengthen connections between fathers and their daughters.
